Korea's National Institute of Animal Quarantine and National Taiwan University signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) on veterinary forensic medicine



The National Institute of Animal Quarantine ( NIA) (hereinafter referred to as the NIA ) under the Ministry of Agriculture of Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on October 28 for the mutual development of veterinary forensic medicine with National Taiwan University in Taiwan, which is known to be actively conducting research related to veterinary forensic medicine in Asia .

 

As animal protection laws have been strengthened recently, social interest in and demand for forensic veterinary examinations that scientifically reveal the wrongful deaths of animals that cannot speak and can be used as direct evidence of animal abuse have been continuously increasing .

 

In Asia, Taiwan and Korea are countries with high environmental and cultural similarities. Compared with Western countries, these two countries also share many similarities in the patterns of animal abuse crimes, with both pushing for veterinary forensic medicine educational content including veterinary forensic medicine courses.

 

The MOU signing ceremony was held successfully at the Gyeongbuk Gimcheon Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency with the attendance of officials from both organizations, including the Director of the Mobile Animal Disease Management Department and Bi-Ling Su , Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at National Taiwan University. The main contents of the business agreement are: sharing of the latest analysis and verification technologies and resources related to veterinary forensic diagnosis , support for local education and practical training , and promotion of international joint research .


It is expected that this business agreement will serve as an opportunity to establish a cooperative system that can produce tangible and tangible results, such as joint development of veterinary forensic diagnostic technologies , exchange of professional personnel , and discovery of collaborative research projects for the advancement of veterinary forensic medicine in Korea and Taiwan (Republic of China) . In addition, the international credibility of domestic veterinary forensic medicine is expected to be further enhanced .

 

The head of the Mobile Animal Disease Control Division said , “ Through this business agreement, we will strengthen the expertise of veterinary forensic diagnostic work that can scientifically prove animal abuse crimes , and strive to make a leap forward as an internationally recognized specialized institution .” He added , “ We will continue to expand international partnerships in the future to increase the international credibility of the Quarantine Agency. ”
